This post is inspired by the article Snapchat is testing a big new redesign on The Verge.
The classic snapchat design that we know and love (to varying degrees) might be getting a revamp if the market test of their redesign goes well!
One of the most noticeable changes will be the addition of two more screens to its original three. As a result, Snapchat will also be adding a navigation bar rather than making users swipe through each of the five screens. This means that the snap map will have its own screen rather than being a part of the camera screen and a separate page will be added for all of Snap’s original shows.

I use Snapchat more than any other app. To me, the idea of a navigation bar is super appealing to me because I hate the extra steps it takes to move from screen to screen. The navigation bar will allow me to skip over the middle screens and get to what I want faster.
However, I would never watch a Snapchat show. The stories I do watch always lag a lot and it gets frustrating waiting for the app to show you its content. Another major issue that I have with it is how often it crashes. I feel like watching a whole show on Snapchat would be like signing up to watch the circle of death for an hour.

I’m very excited for this redesign! I especially like the addition of the search bar. I also like that there is less swiping all around the app to try to find things. I don’t know if I would watch a Snapchat show, but I think it’s worth a try. Maybe they’ll make something awesome! -Daphne
