One design asset being used in this year’s olympic games are animated depictions of figures competing each sport present in the olympics. The organizing committees for the olympics have never before used animated assets in the marketing materials. In my opinion, it’s crazy that this hasn’t been done before! Animation has been around since Walt Disney was alive and gifs have been all the rage all throughout my teens.

The lead designer in making these ‘pictograms’ mentioned that it took his team over a year to create ever moving figure. Maybe that is why moving pieces have never been used in the games before. Check them out and let me know what you think of them! https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=48&v=sR5bt60iWXc&feature=emb_title
I love how they are more dynamic than the usual static pictographs. You really get a sense of energy and kinetics with these!
